Chick Flick Friday! - "Sixteen Candles"

Okay, I know, I know this is SO a teen movie but if you grew up in the 80's, this is a classic and still fun to watch today. Take a trip down memory lane for this edition of Chick Flick Friday!

Molly Ringwald, the queen of all 80's teen movies, stars as Samantha - a girl who's 16th birthday happens to fall on the same weekend as her sister's wedding and everyone forgets it. The movie follows her as she goes through a hellish day where her parents, grandparents and siblings forget the day, her dealings at school where she is pining after the cutest guy in school and then on to the school dance where the school geek hits on her.

I don't think there's a point in this movie that's NOT funny - from her grandmother feeling her boobs, to the foreign exchange student who arrives with the other set of grandparents (Long-Duk-Dong), to Anthony Michael Hall as the geek who has way more confidence than he should.

I could quote lines to this one all day long but for those of you gals out there that remember this, I think we can all look back and remember being in love with Jake Ryan. So pop this movie back in and relive high school one more time for the thrill of seeing the girl get her guy!
