Humildade e comunicação

A grande lacuna do Benfica na presente temporada situa-se ao nível da humildade e da comunicação. Falamos em demasia do que não devemos e do que seria útil e necessário em função da podridão que assola há décadas o futebol Português pouco ou nada dizemos e quando o fazemos o timing não é o mais adequado.
O jogo de ontem correu mal, muito mal na minha opinião. Naquele que foi o regresso do Pavão Jorge Jesus a exibição do Benfica foi decrescendo ao ritmo das várias intervenções que o nosso treinador ia incutindo no jogo. As instruções para os pontapés de canto, o recuo das linhas ao intervalo, a substituição de Gaitan também ao intervalo (!!! não encontro grande explicação) para lançar Salvio, foram erradas e demasiado evidentes sendo que desta feita a justificação não será Olegário e restante companhia. Tudo começou numa conferência de imprensa cujo conteúdo fez parangona nas primeiras páginas dos jornais, a ambição deverá fazer parte da personalidade do treinador mas também a humildade, até porque a primeira deverá ser alicerçada por demonstrações em campo o que não veio a ocorrer. O que se verificou foi um certo receio e muita incapacidade.
Continuamos com demasiados jogadores fora de forma (Maxi, David Luiz, Saviola, Cardozo, Ruben Amorim), outros que não deveriam constituir primeira opção para os jogos (César Peixoto, Jara), várias interrogações (Gaitan, Salvio, Kardec, Sidnei) outros que não se percebe o porquê de estarem no plantel (Weldon, Filipe Meneses). Segundo palavras do nosso treinador na segunda volta vamos arrebentar (inicialmente seria em Setembro) e eu assim espero e confio que poderá acontecer, mas desta forma poderá ser tarde de mais.

Being random on a Thursday...

Life is actually "normal" right now.  Strange, right?  Frank actually has some work, Michael is getting ready to start back to school next week and Nick is...Nick.  No drama, no fighting, it's actually been quiet around here - which is why I haven't had a whole lot to say.   Well, here's what's been going on that is NOT normal...

Clearly I should STOP trying to do anything to maintain my looks because the beauty industry just sucks.  Why?  Okay, first there was the whole Dominican Salon thing.  So I went to another local salon and the first time I went for an eyebrow waxing, it took the girl 20 minutes because she would only wax like 3 hairs at a time.  Not fun.  The second time I went, I got a different girl and she nearly broke my neck with the force she held me down in while she ripped off the wax.  Seriously, I had to use a heating pad when I got home!  So I go BACK there (because clearly I am a glutton for punishment) and wanted to get a haircut.  Three employees, no customers.  One girl is on the phone, the other two are sitting and talking.  One gets up to help me but the other loud mouth just kept shouting questions to me from across the salon in a tone that CLEARLY told me that I was bothering her.  Then she changed the price of the haircut THREE times before I finally walked out!  Crazy bitch.

I have been doing some tutoring lately and the other day the kid's mom was 25 minutes late for picking him up!  Seriously?  She didn't answer her cell phone so now I'm thinking that maybe she was in an accident or something and I had an appointment to get to but I couldn't leave because she wasn't here!  So the kid and I sit and talk.  He has no idea how else to get in touch with her, he doesn't know his dad's work number, I mean...it was crazy.  So she finally shows up, the kid leaves, I leave 3 minutes later to get to the appointment.  I did not yell at this kid, I thought we had a nice conversation.  Well the mom e-mails me later on to first, apologize, but then to go on to tell me that he son told her how UPSET I was!  WTF????  First of all, concerned, not upset and secondly, GET BACK HERE ON FREAKIN" TIME!!!

I finally DID get a haircut - at Great Clips.  Seriously?  Have I sunken so low that I have to resort to Great Clips for a hair cut?  Apparently.  So I go, get the cut and it's okay, I guess.  It's a little bit shorter than what I wanted but I know it will grow fast.  So then I decided that I had had enough of my hair color.  I had gotten fabulous high lights back right before graduation and I've been maintaining them and just doing my roots but the color was just looking a bit blah so I went back to my normal hair color last night - solid, no high lights.

Ick...


I'm not happy with it.  It's dark.  So now, just to re-cap my hair is shorter than I want and darker than I want.  Great.


So there's my drama for this week...the things that make my life what it is.  Crazy...

Bom jogo de basquetebol, hoje, na Luz! Tivemos um adversário pela frente como não haveremos de ter no campeonato nacional. A equipa "ucraniana" tem 6 americanos. São muito fortes fisicamente e estiveram num dia inacreditavelmente inspirado nos tiros exteriores.
A eliminatória está em aberto e, não sendo favoritos, poderemos passar. A jogar sempre como hoje (o Sérgio Ramos e o Diogo Carreira não jogaram devido a problemas físicos), limparemos o campeonato só com vitórias. Não duvido disto.

Os nossos jovens do Paços de Ferreira

Ontem pus-me a ver o jogo do Paços de Ferreira para observar in loco os nossos dois jogadores que temos emprestado a esta equipa, o Nélson Oliveira e o David Simão.

Quanto ao primeiro, gostei das suas movimentações e tem pinta de avançado mas ainda está muito verdinho. O ano passado foi emprestado ao Rio Ave, onde mal jogou, e quanto a mim foi uma má decisão por parte do nosso clube pois estes jovens necessitam de rodagem. Este ano com o Rui Vitória no Paços de Ferreira, que já treinou os nossos juniores, pode ser que tenha essa rodagem, mesmo considerando que está a substituir o provável avançado titular, Mario Rondon, que teve lesionado.

Relativamente ao David Simão, gostei bastante deste jogador, apesar de ter falhado o penalty. Tem um remate forte, bom passe e gostei da sua garra e capacidade de ler o jogo. Jogador a ter em conta no futuro, é esperar para ver.

Uma pequena nota para o futebol muito positivo e alegre praticado pelo Paços, perdeu mas merecia ter ganho com margem confortável. Temos treinador.

OMG...another Disney trip??

Okay, so the Disney store did NOT call me for a job and I have to admit, I'm a little peeved about that.  Not enough so that I would have any ill-will towards the Disney company but they could have at LEAST asked me in for an interview!

We are thinking of hitting Magic Kingdom for a day in November.  We'll be visiting my in-laws at some point and I think that we are going to try and do a day at Disney.  The only thing I am unsure about is whether to do a full day (at $85 per person) or just get tickets for the Christmas Party which gives you seven hours at night in Magic Kingdom for only $48 per person.  I've done both and they are fun but I am so not a night-owl that I fear that I won't feel the joy so much if I am dying to go to sleep.

THEN...because that's not exciting enough for me, my sister and I are trying to plan a trip for March of 2011 for just the two of us.  It's been a while since we've done that and it is TIME!  We have the greatest trips when it is just us and I truly treasure those times together.  So we are looking at prices and trying to find deals so I am SO EXCITED!!!

Mesmo com 6 vitórias no campeonato, algumas delas ajudados pelos árbitros, e três derrotas do Benfica, duas delas com o contributo inexcedível dos amigos do costume, lá esteve ele, o presidente do porto, com as suas "finas ironias" repletas de uma grossa lata.
Disse então o presidente do porto que nunca foram os campeões dos túneis. Disse-o hoje à noite, depois do Benfica ter ganho pela 3ª vez consecutiva, mostrando bom futebol e a dias de jogar com o Braga. Repete incessantemente a mentira dos túneis como manobra de diversão pois sabe que nem a sua equipa vale tanta vitória consecutiva, nem o Benfica poderia, mesmo com o prestável auxílio dos árbitros, continuar a perder tantos pontos.
E o que eu vi? Um Benfica a jogar bem na Madeira e, mais uma vez, um árbitro a ter dúvidas em assinalar um penalti claro a favor do Benfica. Também vi, como já esperava e porque ganhámos, os nossos dirigentes a calarem-se mais uma vez.
E isto chateia-me. Chateia-me porque me dá a impressão que só falamos quando perdemos. E falarmos quando perdemos dá-me a sensação, quiçá injusta mas plausível, que os comunicados servem, essencialmente, para acalmar os ânimos dos benfiquistas.
Pois não é assim que se fazem as coisas. Em tantos anos à frente do clube, já deveriam ter percebido que os ânimos dos benfiquistas são acalmados, talvez, por um acaso e se estiver bom tempo, apenas com as vitórias.
Haverá sempre aquele sentimento de superioridade inata de que teremos que ser sempre superiores a tudo e todos. Haverá sempre pessoas do contra e haverá sempre aqueles que, independentemente das manobras para nos prejudicarem, acharão que, primeiro, temos que cuidar de nós.
E já chateia. Essencialmente, porque acredito que, na maior parte dos temas que são importantes para o Benfica, temos um excelente presidente. E esta forma de estar, mais virada para gerir consensos entre benfiquistas do que para defender o Benfica, é errada e nada condizente com o bom que acredito que tem sido feito pelo Benfica.
Pergunto eu: Considerando que não vale a pena expor o nosso presidente a bate bocas, onde anda o Rui Costa? Porque é que ainda ninguém apareceu a afirmar que não sabe se o porto foi campeão em túneis porque não ouviu no youtube e, mesmo que tivesse ouvido, saberia que, neste país, quem prevarica, continua impune? Porquê? É assim tão complicado? Ou como ganhámos aos lagartos e na Madeira, já não é importante realçar que temos sido escandalosamente roubados neste campeonato? Afinal, quem eram os destinatários do comunicado?

Taça de Portugal - Benfica - Sporting

Com tanta insistência do representante do Arouca em afirmar que irá ser um Benfica - Sporting, está mesmo a pedir uma tareia.
Do meu ponto de vista, espero que o desafio com o Arouca seja o primeiro de uma caminhada triunfal esta época na Taça de Portugal. Já tenho saudades de ir ao Jamor e de ver o Benfica a ganhar esta competição. Em 33 finais, ganhámos 24 (em 70 edições). Não vencemos esta prova desde 2004 e não chegamos à final desde 2005. Já são demasiados anos a menosprezar esta competição.

The Amazing Race is Back!!!

I am almost counting down the minutes until 8:30 Eastern Standard Time.  I have to admit, lately I have been all about the TV but really, life has sucked otherwise and this has been a nice diversion.  

So tonight "The Amazing Race" starts back up.  I don't understand these "new" seasons that seem to be all the rage where shows run in 12 week intervals.  I find it confusing and I hate that they don't do re-runs at all on them so if you miss an episode, you're screwed.  Not fun.  But "The Amazing Race" is truly a great show because I do find geography interesting and so not only are the challenges realistic (unlike those on "Survivor") but you truly get a glimpse in to the culture of the country they are in.  As a family, we enjoy the show.  

In order to kill time today I have (since getting home from church earlier):  Gone to Super Target, eaten lunch, done dishes, called my in-laws, entered in about a dozen books to swap on Paperback Swap, made Frank lunch and DRIVEN it 20 miles away to where he is working today, drove back, called my dad and spoke to him for like 30 minutes, mixed up a batch of dough for Artisan bread, shaped said dough (after 2 hours of rising) in to 16 individual rolls, played about a dozen games on Facebook, and written this blog.

And it's only 4:30.

Depois de há um ano, neste mesmo jogo (ou o correspondente da época) termos sido vilipendiados do primeiro troféu da época, eis que a história este ano se escreveu pelas linhas direitas! Há um ano, o jogo decorria de forma (mais ou menos) semelhante até que chegou o intervalo...nesse período, alguns 'senhores' dos Andrades andavam a passear-se pela cabine dos árbitros e a segunda parte foi o que se viu...enfim, a prova de que o 'Polvo e o apito Dourado não mexem só no futebol!

Hoje, nada nem ninguém os conseguiu parar...ao intervalo o 3-2 dava-nos uma justa vantagem! no regresso do balenário, o Fóculporto empata e julgava-se que ia ser repetição de há 12 meses...mas Não! Uma exibição de gala dos Hoquistas do Benfica enxovalhou o Pseudo-Campeão (este titulo parece mesmo comprado no Supermercado....)! Golo atrás de golo nem as sticadas e cacetadas do costume dos Andrades nos conseguiram parar! Nada nos conseguiu parar...o 'puto' do João Rodrigues para abrilhantar ainda mais a coisa, ainda espetou com 4 batatinhas na Baliza do Edu Bosch! 8-4...

Tendo em conta o que se via pelos ringues por esse país fora, ninguém diria que ia ser assim...Os Olegários, Bardaxistras e Sousas do Hóquei fizeram muita mossa...fizeram sim! Mas uma modalidade que tantos titulos deu ao Benfica na sua história não morre assim..

Está viva...e bem viva!!!

O Futsal tá a rebentar...o Andebol está bem vivo (acabou de vencer no ABC) a mais forte que nos 2 últimos anos...o Voleibol que esteve tão perto, é este ano que vai lá!

A Supertaça de Hoquei em patins contra os Andrades foi só o ponto de partida...

Encaro os jogos do Benfica sempre com alguma apreensão, ontem em virtude do Marítimo ter treinador novo, o facto de jogar na Madeira ser sempre muito difícil e a história, exceptuando os últimos e atípicos 2 anos, tem demonstrado as nossas dificuldades naquele Estádio e sabendo que o fcp teria um jogo em teoria fácil, encontrava-me mesmo muito preocupado com o jogo. A reacção da equipa foi boa, não fizemos um jogo deslumbrante mas jogamos o suficiente para ganhar com uma goleada. O incrível é que também fizemos o suficiente para sairmos da Madeira com uma derrota, tamanha a displicência no remate à baliza. Gaitan, Cardozo e Saviola falharam golos de forma inacreditável em especial os dois primeiros elevando os nossos níveis de ansiedade e sofrimento a patamares perfeitamente dispensáveis.
Não sofrer golos mais uma vez revelou-se fundamental, e podemos agradecer a Roberto que teve uma intervenção gigante e a Luizão que fez uma excelente exibição. A equipa parece estar melhor neste aspecto do jogo até porque já controla melhor o jogo a meio campo o que reduz a exposição da defesa.
Quero destacar Carlos Martins na sua posição de origem é outra loiça, uma grande exibição para mim é claramente dono do lugar, Aimar é grande mas de momento não chega lá e poderia ser uma grande alternativa para entrar na segunda parte. Penso que desta forma potenciaríamos melhor estes dois recursos.
Pela negativa a falta de alternativas a Saviola, Jara confirma que para já é cedo, tem que crescer e muito para ser solução.

HGTV...I may need an intervention

I am not a huge fan of TV, but I do have some favorite shows that I won't miss:  How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, Psych, 30 Rock...prime time shows, once a week, no big deal.  But, oh, HGTV....

Even when our finances were at rock bottom this summer and I had to quit my memberships to the YMCA and Weight Watchers, the next logical step was to get rid of the cable.  But I couldn't.  I mean, we don't have the super-deluxe package, just the basic stuff, 100 channels.  I just couldn't bring myself to do it because then I would miss the ENTIRE HGTV network!  Seriously, when all else fails, I can turn to good ole channel 59 and there they are:  all my shows.  I LOVE House Hunters, Income Property...I have to admit, I have a secret crush (well maybe not so secret now) on the host of Income Property.  He's a little hottie and I do so enjoy his Canadian accent.  

I didn't think that my habit had gotten too bad but I'm starting to notice that Michael knows WAY more about home features than a ten year old should after being forced to watch House Hunters with me and while Frank was on the phone tonight with a friend, completely oblivious to what was on the TV, until I switched on HGTV.  Then all of a sudden he's like "Oh, THIS channel again?"  Really?  I have had to sit through WAY too many Turner Classic Movies and boo-coos of documentaries and I'm getting grief on sitting through 30 minutes of good, clean real estate searching fun?

God help the poor real estate agent we'd get should we ever be able to buy a house.  Now that I've watched all these people doing it on HGTV, I know all of the questions to ask, and what to look for and all that and now...well, I have just enough knowledge to be dangerous...Scary indeed...

Conjunto de Idiotas

A conferência de imprensa que serviu de antevisão ao jogo entre fcp e Olhanense foi um ajuntamento de idiotas.
Idiota n.º 1: André Vilas Boas passe o pleonasmo no seu estilo de Lord sabichão e inchado foi dizendo umas alarvidades sobre o actual estado da arbitragem nacional, levantando a hipótese de no futuro serem prejudicados lhes ser dado o mesmo tratamento que tem sido dado ao nosso clube, nomeadamente na assumpção por parte de Vítor Pereira de alguns erros existentes nas várias jornadas até aqui disputadas.
Evocou em opinião pessoal (usou repetidamente o termo particular) os méritos da Organização do seu clube e das exibições da equipa.

Idiota n.º 2: Os jornalistas submissos, que assistem ao discurso embebidos dos aromas da fruta e café com leite, fazendo perguntas leves e que permitem um deambular de parvoíce. Põem questões em termos hipotéticos de teóricos erros de arbitragem que possam ter prejudicado determinado clube sem nunca aflorar os erros que têm beneficiado o idiota n.º 1.

Idiota n.º 3: Eu e todos aqueles que perderam o seu tempo ao ponto de se irritarem a ver aquele espectáculo deprimente sem partir a televisão. Realmente começo a pensar que dar audiência a esta gente é um tiro no pé, contudo convém não desprezar determinadas mensagens. Como o João Tomaz muito bem disse em relação a João Moutinho também este pedaço de excremento, lamento a insistência em pleonasmos, que treina os amigos da fruta voltou a dar enfoque à Organização que está por detrás das vitórias até agora conseguidas.
Já que estamos numa de guerra e de comunicados seria interessante o Benfica através do seu Director de Comunicação aflorar o assunto relacionando os erros de árbitros às palavras desta gente. São eles próprios que o assumem, a vergonha chega a este ponto. Não julgo suficiente declarações de Rui Costa a dizer que estamos atentos, é preciso mais, muito mais.

OMG...LOL...BFF's...and Facebook

I know, I know...I spend WAY too much time on Facebook but finally I feel like it is paying off.  Yes, I've gotten all of the high scores on some of my favorite games.  Yes, I have gotten in touch with people I never thought I'd see or speak to again.  And yes, I have surpassed Nick in the number of friends I have.  All of these are great accomplishments but today...TODAY...well, here it is...

OMG...One of my all-time favorite authors (Susan Mallery) has a Facebook page that I, of course, "liked".  I have had the opportunity to write on her wall and actually have her answer me.  For a book nerd like me, this is HUGE!

LOL...She's actually quite funny.  She makes me smile daily with her little blurbs and things that she posts.  I was already on her newsletter list from her main website but it seems a bit more personal on Facebook.  Weird, I know.

BFF's...Susan has a new book coming out on September 28th "The Best of Friends" and so today she asked on Facebook "Why should we be BFF's?" and we had to post a picture of ourselves along with an answer on her page.  So of COURSE, I had to do it.  The winner of the BFF thing will get their picture Photoshopped with Susan doing all kinds of fun things that BFF's do.  Silly, yes, but it would still be cool.

If you are a reader of contemporary chick-lit, check Susan out.  "Finding Perfect" came out earlier this month and is the third in a trilogy that is amazingly good.  "The Best of Friends" comes out next week and I'm sure it will be a huge hit, too.  If memory serves, she has over 100 titles to choose from and is a New York Times Best Seller.  Sweet!

All I can say is that I know to some people it may seem lame or ridiculous, but it is kind of a thrill to interact, even through Facebook, with someone whose work I adore.  As I told her in my BFF bio, I would consider it a huge honor to have my name even once listed in the same author category as her.  I bow to the master...

Quem cala consente

E continuamos nós, presos no nosso complexo de superioridade que nos coarcta os movimentos neste pântano que é o futebol português desde há 25 anos. Não tive tempo para o escrever mas considerei, e considero, lamentável o comunicado emitido pelos nossos órgãos sociais na semana passada. Não no seu conteúdo, com o qual concordo em grande parte, mas no seu timing. Fazê-lo após 4 derrotas em 5 jogos retirou credibilidade às posições tomadas embora a justiça das mesmas, além da sua existência, já se reclame há muitos anos.

“O senhor Vítor Pereira tem a obrigação de garantir condições de igualdade nos critérios e na acção dos árbitros a todos os clubes em Portugal. Algo que até aqui não aconteceu”.
O Benfica deixou, sem reagir, que os adversários falassem de túneis e de transportes ao colo, numa época em que foi muito superior aos adversários. Foi um dos melhores campeões de sempre, bateu o recorde de golos marcados, foi uma das duas equipas que menos golos sofreu. Pelo meio, não mencionámos, por exemplo, o penalti por marcar no dragão ou o roubo em Braga. Falou-se muito de túneis mas, nesse jogo em Braga, o Cardozo foi expulso ao intervalo por levar uma pêra. O Benfica, do alto da sua sobranceria, esteve calado.

“A nossa ausência será o melhor indicador da nossa indignação”.
Não concordo com este pedido. Por três motivos:
- Considero-o injusto para os clubes que nada têm a ver com esta fantochada de Liga que temos;
- Põe os adeptos benfiquistas num dilema entre dar força a uma indignação colectiva e a vontade de ver os seus ídolos a jogarem à bola;
- Dificilmente terá sucesso uma vez que a malta, em Portugal, mobiliza-se pouco, a vontade de ver a equipa é elevada e há milhões de benfiquistas. Na maior parte dos estádios, se 5 mil benfiquistas forem à bola, já se bate o recorde de assistências da época do clube visitado.
Mas, mais uma vez, os problemas não são de hoje. Há muito que um pedido radical destes era exigido por muitos benfiquistas, até pelo preço exorbitante que nos costumam pedir.

“Suspensão imediata de quaisquer negociações relativas aos direitos televisivos relativos aos jogos da sua equipa profissional a partir da época 2012/13 que possam estar a decorrer com a Olivedesportos”.
Sendo, na minha opinião, muito discutível que os critérios editoriais da Sporttv sigam uma linha anti-Benfica, nada mudou nos últimos tempos em relação ao passado. Só compreendo esta alínea como forma de pressão à Olivedesportos para oferecer mais dinheiro ao Benfica. Mas é preciso ver mais à frente. Que legitimidade terá o Benfica para falar neste assunto - se de facto é um assunto - nos anos seguintes ao novo contrato? Além de que o argumento BenficaTV, enfim, é uma miragem. Basta ir ao fórum do Ser Benfiquista e verificar a quantidade de utilizadores que passam a vida a pedir links para ver jogos das modalidades online, que é como quem diz, benfiquistas que não se dão ao trabalho de, pelo mesmo preço, mudarem da Zon para a Meo.

“Equacionar (…) a participação na presente edição da Taça da Liga”
Ora aqui está uma medida peregrina… Perdem-se receitas, oportunidades de rodar o plantel, oportunidade de capitalizar psicologicamente, no plantel e adeptos, uma eventual vitória na competição e o próprio prémio da vitória. E para quê? Para protestar contra os árbitros. Os mesmos árbitros da Taça de Portugal, Supertaça e Campeonato. Quando sairmos da Taça da Liga, recusarmos a disputa da Supertaça e desprezarmos a Taça de Portugal, ameaçamos que vamos para a Liga espanhola… Mais uma vez o timing. As más arbitragens, por serem tendenciosas, não são de hoje.

“Solicitar à comunicação social que, fazendo o seu trabalho, denuncie quem adultera as regras”.
Este foi o ponto que mais me irritou no comunicado, até pela forma submissa como se interpelou a comunicação social. O Benfica tem um canal de televisão, um jornal, uma revista e deveria ter um site. Tem moços de recados no jornal A Bola e no jornal Record. É certo que não respondem ambos à mesma pessoa mas, caramba, presumo que os objectivos dessas pessoas, em última instância, sejam os mesmos. Há formas de fazer sair informação com o refúgio no anonimato. Pede-se aos jornalistas que façam o seu trabalho e, após o balanço do Vítor Pereira, baixam-se as armas e faz-se público um cândido desejo de boas intenções do presidente da Comissão de Arbitragem? Mas o que é isto? Porque há-de a comunicação social fazer o seu trabalho se nem os dirigentes do Benfica, em prol do Benfica, se querem queimar? Onde está o ataque cerrado à arbitragem após a escandaleira de ontem por parte do Rui Costa, João Gabriel, etc? É preciso sermos nós, os idiotas úteis dos blogs que quase só somos lidos por benfiquistas e não temos qualquer crédito, a fazer jogos de palavras com as declarações de elementos do porto? Era muito difícil que alguém do Benfica aparecesse a dizer que o Moutinho tem razão quando afirma que é muito tranquilo jogar no porto e explicasse porquê? Já repararam que o porto, ainda hoje, depois de escandalosamente beneficiado em três jogos das cinco jornadas que se realizaram no campeonato e do Benfica ter sido prejudicado sem descaramento em duas, ainda fale de um pretenso jogo violento dos jogadores do Benfica na supertaça que, por sinal, até ganharam e que o seu barulho abafou, por completo, que a jogada mais polémica no jogo foi um penalti sobre o Saviola? Solicitar!?!?!?

“Solicitar ao Senhor Ministro da Administração Interna uma audiência para debater a violência de que a equipa do Benfica tem sido alvo cada vez que se desloca ao Porto”
É certo que, mais uma vez, o nosso autocarro foi apedrejado. Mas o que eu pergunto é porque é que o Benfica não passou o verão a falar do apedrejamento no dragão? Isto já vem do tempo do guarda Abel e da lixívia no balneário. Aquela gente é perita em truques destes.

“Declarar o Secretário de Estado ‘persona non grata’ pelo trabalho que prestou ao futebol português”.
Só há duas hipóteses para o Laurentino Dias: Ou é um vendido ou é um incompetente. Acredito que seja incompetente somente. Um incompetente porque se demite das suas responsabilidades e nada faz sempre que uma decisão possa causar polémica para o seu lado. Mas não é de hoje… O que é este paspalho teve a dizer sobre o processo Apito Dourado para além do cliché “há entidades competentes que…”. O que é que este paspalho teve a dizer sobre a violência com que a nossa equipa foi recebida no dragão? O que é que este paspalho teve a dizer sobre a violência da claque do porto a caminho da final da taça da Liga? O que é que este paspalho tem a dizer sobre os sucessivos adiamentos da aplicação da lei de bases do desporto onde é definido que os conselhos de arbitragem e disciplina têm que estar integrados nas federações e não em Ligas de clubes?

Enfim, mais que o conteúdo, é o timing que importa. E nós, enredados que estivemos numa sobranceria pitoresca por termos sido campeões com nota artística, não fizemos o nosso trabalho de casa. Agora, depois de perdermos 3 jogos no campeonato, fez-se um comunicado… Só se fala quando se perde e já diz o povo, quem cala consente. E nós consentimos muito. E continuamos a consentir. Hoje, em vez de aproveitarmos o balanço do Vítor Pereira, fizemos um comunicado cândido, cheio de palavras tão bonitas quanto abstractas… A razão? Ganhámos aos lagartos com uma boa exibição… Definitivamente, parece que não aprendemos…

Mais do mesmo

Por falta de tempo, não escrevi o que me apetecia sobre o jogo do sportem. Entretanto o porto jogou na Madeira e perdi a vontade.
E perdi-a porque, aos 20 minutos, o porto marcou um golo a partir de um livre assinalado pelo Bruno Paixão porque um jogador do Nacional, com as mãos junto à cabeça, "comete" falta. Passados 3 minutos, numa mão mais evidente do Rolando dentro da área, o apito falhou.
Assim se percebe melhor as declarações do Moutinho no final do jogo:
«O jogo não foi demasiado fácil, nós é que conseguimos tornar fácil. Controlámos de principio ao fim e criámos oportunidades».
«jogar no FC Porto é jogar tranquilamente».
Reconheço e aplaudo a coragem que o Moutinho demonstrou ao lembrar que os árbitros fazem parte do plantel do porto. Deve ser da tranquilidade de lá jogar...

Big step to bring me THISMUCH closer to the dream...

Out of sheer boredom today we went to the mall.  Let me just say that I LOATHE the mall.  I have worked retail for most of my life and back in the day most of that work was done at a mall and I hated it.  I don't enjoy shopping at the mall for any reason whatsoever.

Kind of...

So we're at the mall mainly because it's a Sunday and we needed something to do and Michael has been asking to go to the Lego store that is at the mall.  Honestly, I think I could have found a thousand other things to do but we caved and went.  Now it just so happens that at this particular mall there is a Disney Store right across from the Lego store and so while the boys went wild for Lego's, I went wild at the Disney Store AND...wait for it...got an application for a job!  WOO-HOO! 

Now here's the thing:  first, this is a DREAM of mine - to work for Disney.  The mall is about 30 minutes away so it would not be convenient by any stretch of the imagination but it would be so much fun.  Second, the pay would have to be more than I am getting from unemployment otherwise it's just not worth it.  And third, how freakin awesome would it be for ME to work at the Disney Store and get some employee discounts to go to Disney?  

Sweet!!!

So I filled out the application and now I wait and see if they actually call.  

Fingers crossed!!!

Random...and bored

So life is somewhat returning to normal.  Frank has some work (praise the LORD!) finally and I am able to breathe a bit again.  It's going to take quite a long time before we are out of the financial hole that his unemployment put us in but I think I see a hint of light at the end of the tunnel.

Michael is tracked out of school right now.  It's the first of our three-week breaks that go with year-round school.  If things had been better financially, we'd be having a ball.  As it is we are pretty much hanging out at home.  The cool thing is that because Nick is out of town, Michael has decided to fill in some of the gaps and actually started doing some chores that he's never done before - like the dishes!  I mean, the boy just went in to the kitchen WILLINGLY and started washing dishes!  I was blown away.  And you know the best part?  I didn't have to RE-wash them!  Awesome!

Life is still tense around here regarding the landlord.  Although he and I made peace, Frank is still pretty bitter.  As it turned out, he DID file a claim against us in small claims court and even though he said that he wasn't going to go, Frank and I still did.  That was a pretty hard thing to do because while I am all like "It's okay, it's over, it's done" Frank was like "I'm here because he screwed us".  Not a fun way to spend an afternoon, let me tell you!  So we are looking at other houses to rent but really, I am afraid to make the move because of our finances and yet I cannot see making my husband stay someplace where he is so miserable and constantly full of hate and rage.  

We were blessed with a new dryer last week.  Well, not "new" new, but new for us since ours died and we were facing the cost of having to buy one.  Some friends of our had found out about our need and invited us over to dinner and gave us a dryer.  We offered them money for it but they declined.  It's not in pristine shape - there are some rust spots - but it dries WAY better than our other one.  We put the old one out at the curb and literally, 5 minutes later someone came and picked it up.  It looked like the truck from "Sanford and Son" but hey, at least it's not in front of my house anymore!

Frank is at a Tom Petty/ZZ Top concert tonight while Michael and I are hanging out at home.  I am feeling so dang lazy that I am almost ashamed of myself.  I have been playing games on Facebook all night.  No, not Farmville or Mafia Wars; I'm totally in to the Solitaire games.  There's this girl from high school that I am Facebook friends with and she is forever beating me at games and so my goal tonight was to take back my top spot.  Petty, yes, but I'm bored.  

Maybe I should find something more productive to do with my time...Nah, I'm off to play Algerian Patience Solitaire!

No nosso mandato não vamos montar uma estrutura organizada à margem da lei, nem um modelo de violência e intimidação de agentes desportivos ou jornalistas. Essa não é a nossa postura, nem a nossa forma de agir.

Face à adulteração da verdade desportiva, queremos pedir aos sócios e adeptos do Benfica que continuem a apoiar, de forma inequívoca e sem reservas, a equipa nos jogos que o Benfica realiza no Estádio da Luz, mas que se abstenham de se deslocar aos jogos fora de casa. A nossa ausência será o melhor indicador da nossa indignação.c)

Solicitar ao Presidente do Sport Lisboa e Benfica a suspensão imediata de quaisquer negociações relativas aos direitos televisivos relativos aos jogos da sua equipa profissional a partir da época 2012/13 que possam estar a decorrer com a Olivedesportos.

Não podemos continuar a tolerar que a falta de seriedade dentro de campo tenha a cumplicidade daqueles que, tendo os nossos direitos televisivos, não revelam isenção na análise e camuflam os erros daqueles que sistematicamente nos prejudicam.

Quem se demite das suas responsabilidades, deve saber que isso tem consequências.

Queremos concluir dizendo que compete aos benfiquistas defender o Benfica e apelando a todos para amanhã, no nosso estádio, darmos uma grande demonstração da nossa força e da nossa união."

Seriously, 600 miles away isn't far enough...

Nick is up in NY right now visiting the family.  He made the plans without me.  He worked it all out and really, at 18, I didn't need to be involved.  He is an adult; he can make his own plans.

Or so one would think...

I had a couple of calls before he left from relatives that wanted to see him.  "Call him" I told them because really, I was not involved in any of this.  He made the calls, plans were tentatively made.  Until it all hit the fan today.  Majorly.  

He called me this morning just to chat.  There has been an on-going debate as to whether or not to go to a particular concert while he was up there.  He's going, he's not going, he's going, he's not...on and on and on it went until I thought my ears would bleed.  So last I had heard, he wasn't going to the show and he was going to his grandmother's for dinner.  

Or so one would think...

He tells me that he thinks he is going to the show tonight.  I'm like "Did you talk to your grandmother?"  He yammers on about a conversation that was had the night before and she kind of knows what's going on, blah, blah, blah.  So I'm like "Please, please, PLEASE call Nana and let her know that you aren't coming".  This went on through most of the day.  Some time around 3:00, I'm on the phone with my mom and she is describing all of the wonderful things she is making for Nick's visit tonight.

Insert awkward silence here...

So I cautiously tell her that I thought he was going to the show tonight.  This sparks much outrage and she hangs up to call my sister.  Within minutes, she's back on the phone with me (my cell phone).  While we are talking, my house phone rings.  My sister.  I tell her I'll call her back in a few minutes.  Thirty seconds later, the house phone rings again and it is Nick.  I let that go to the machine and he is like "Whatever aunt Karen says, don't believe her!" and hangs up.  So I finish talking to mom, attempt to call my sister, she doesn't answer so now I get the boy on the phone and SCREAM at him for making such a mess out of this whole situation.  We argued, he denied doing anything "really" wrong and I had had enough.  I talked to my sister, we laughed, we plotted ways to make the boy pay for all of this and in the end, he DID go to his grandmother's home for dinner and skipped the concert.

Here's the thing, and it may be a girl thing but I'm just sayin... you know, I can remember being 18 and hanging out with my grandparents was not a top priority.  As a matter of fact, I can remember times when I skipped out on it or cut a visit super short.  Now?  I would give ANYTHING to have a day with them again.  Will Nick feel that way twenty years from now?  Who knows?  But I know that I miss my grandparents more than I ever thought possible and I feel like he doesn't see them all that much as it is so when the opportunity arises, he should take advantage of it because they won't be here forever.  So yeah, maybe it's a girl thing but that's my advice on the subject...

Chicotada Psicológica

Não sou grande admirador de alterações a meio da época desportiva, tenho a opinião e mantenho que o sucesso de uma equipa tem mais a ver com a organização estrutural do clube do que com o individuo que orienta a equipa, por norma este não é o problema faz é parte desse problema. No entanto, também acho, que em determinadas circunstâncias essa alteração é benéfica e representa o abanão que permite reorganizar o clube colocando-o no caminho do desejado sucesso. Gosto da estabilidade desde que essa não seja medíocre ou mediana.
O Benfica deste ano enquanto equipa é uma sombra da campeã na passada temporada sendo que as ausências de Di Maria, Ramires e as infelizes arbitragens dos suspeitos do costume não constituem por si só razão suficiente para tamanha diferença. Jogadores determinantes como David Luiz, Saviola e Cardozo parecem agora perfeitamente banais e apenas o último tem a desculpa do Mundial. A equipa está amorfa, joga a passo, parece cansada, demasiado cansada, os jogadores, na sua esmagadora maioria arrastam-se pelo campo, Maxi, Ruben Amorim e Javi Garcia jogadores de combate e de grande garra são disso um confrangedor exemplo. Se para muitos esta situação é estranha e sombria, para quem acompanha os treinos da equipa no Seixal e acompanhou no ano passado são evidentes as diferenças em especial no timoneiro. É tempo de agir, importa tomar decisões que permitam lutar pelos objectivos ainda possíveis (lugar de acesso à Champions, conquistar taça de Portugal e da Liga, e passar a fase de grupos na liga dos campeões deste ano), pelo que defendo o despedimento de Jorge Jesus o catedrático de futebol com ordenado de 200.000,00€ e a contratação de Jorge Jesus o trabalhador com ordenado de 50.000,00€.

Assobios

O Cardozo portou-se mal ao mandar calar os adeptos. Os adeptos que o assobiaram por este os mandar calar, tiveram uma atitude compreensível. Mas os 300 ou 400 adeptos que originaram toda a situação por assobiarem-no quando errou um passe são desprezíveis. Que fique registado que essas centenas de adeptos assobiaram o 20º melhor marcador de sempre do Benfica em pouco mais de três épocas por causa de um mau passe...

P.S.
São 79 golos em 133 jogos. Dos jogadores que jogaram mais de 100 jogos pelo Benfica, tem a 12ª melhor média de sempre de golos por jogo. E, entre estes, se apenas contabilizarmos a partir dos anos 60, tem a 7ª melhor média de sempre...

From diamonds to silly bandz...

I grew up in New York.  Long Island.  If you watch the Real Housewives of New Jersey or the Jersey Shore or even Jerseylicious, THAT is what we looked like back in the 80's.  Seriously.  Big hair, obnoxious clothes and TONS of jewelry.  I was draped in it always.

When we moved to NC, I noticed that not all people looked that way.  Honestly, I tired of the jewelry and didn't wear all that much.  But things were tight after the move and so I ended up selling most of my gold.  It didn't make me sad to do it.  I had only one piece of jewelry left (other than my engagement ring and wedding band) that was real gold with real diamond (albeit small ones) and I decided to get rid of that one, too.  I took it to the local pawn shop and was pleased to make a little bit of money.  Actually, I am trying to put money aside so that we can visit my in-laws down in Florida this year and being that we had so many months of Frank being out of work and then getting screwed on this bathroom renovation, we had spent what little we had put aside for the trip.  So little by little I am selling off some things in hopes of raising the money.

But I digress...so after I left the pawn shop (and can I just say, with my NY accent, people still think I am saying "Porn" shop) I was driving away and I looked at my hands on the steering wheel.  On my left hand is my wedding band and engagement ring - which I love.  On my left wrist is a Mickey Mouse silly band.  On my right hand is a silly ring in the shape of a heart (a red one) that Michael gave me last week and on my right wrist is my Mickey Mouse watch that I got at Walmart for $10 two years ago that plays the theme to the Mickey Mouse Club.  

As a former Italian princess from Long Island, that is saying a LOT.  But you know what?  These little items on my hands and wrists mean more to me than all of the gold that I had in my life.  I don't miss the gold.  I don't miss the diamonds.  I'll miss the day when my little boy doesn't have time to give me a silly band that he knows I'll love or won't wake me up to place a heart on my finger.  So for now, I will treasure them...

Sometimes it pays to open your mouth...

So I ended up making the call to the Xbox people yesterday.  Nick got home and was so frustrated and so I was like "I'll call!" and I did.  

Two things come to mind.  One:  These people are idiots.  I mean, I followed like 27 prompts on the phone, they clearly knew who we were, had us on the big computer screen along with all of our info and then when I finally get a LIVE person on the line, I have to repeat it all again.  Fun.  So after explaining everything to this guy Dwayne, he tells me that he has to transfer me to an account specialist.  Of course you do.  Then, he comes BACK on the line with what I'm sure he thought was an "AH-HA!" moment and was like "Well, it looks like your system was returned to you because it's out of warranty".  

Deep cleansing breaths...

I FREAKIN KNOW THAT, DWAYNE!  THAT IS WHY I PAID YOU $100!  BACK IN AUGUST!!

Awkward silence...

Hold please...

Now, I am transferred to not only an accounts specialist but then an escalation specialist.  Clearly they could tell that my patience level had ESCALATED from having to deal with a bunch of idiots!  Twenty minutes and much venting of my frustration and reminding them of how unacceptable all this was, I am soon to be the proud owner of a brand spanking new Xbox, with an Xbox Live membership.

We'll see...

Today's endeavor came in the form of a response to a complaint that I sent to Staples when a super nasty little girl behind the counter made me want to reach over the counter and slap her two weeks ago.  Everyone has a bad day; I know that, I get it.  But sometimes the way that they express that to the customer is just more than unnecessary...this was one of those times.  So I wrote a complaint to the store about it and today I was sent a $20 coupon for my next purchase.  Did I do this in hopes of getting a "reward"?  No.  I did this because I have worked in retail for most of my life and you know what?  You have to have some self control and no matter what you have to at least TRY and be pleasant.  This girl was rude before I even got to the register and that is not acceptable.

Manager's beware...I guess I'm a not-so-secret-shopper...and I've got some time on my hands...

I take it back...XBOX SUCKS!!!

Companies of the world take note:  When I like you and you do right by me, I will praise you and recommend you to anyone who will listen, but when you do me wrong?  WATCH OUT because I will use every media possible to let the WORLD know that you suck!

A couple of weeks ago I was praising Nick because he had this broken Xbox and he had sent it in to be fixed, PAID $100 to have it fixed, and Xbox sent him back a still broken game system.  He called them, they apologized, the told him that for his inconvenience they would fix the system AND give him a gold membership to Xbox Live AND a new game.  Well guess what came in the mail today?  A STILL BROKEN XBOX!!  Now...I am mad.

Nick is at work at the moment otherwise I would TOTALLY be on the phone with these idiots and tell them EXACTLY what I think of them.  But Nick has all of their correspondence stuff and really, he needs to be the one to follow through with them and make this right.  I am practically sitting on my own hands to stop myself from calling them.  

So basically we went to the website, filled out a repair request, PAID THEM since the system was no longer under warranty, and TWICE they have sent it back to us un-fixed.  Does that seem right to anyone?  Does that seem like it is acceptable to take one's money and NOT do what you were paid to do?  I DON'T THINK SO!

Should they not make this right IMMEDIATELY, be prepared for a barrage of XBOX SUCKS comments to be randomly posted anywhere and everywhere I can get them.  It will be my Facebook status, it will be in blogs, e-mails... I will contact any television station with a troubleshooter, I'll contact shows like Dateline and 20/20.  I take this stuff seriously.

Many years ago I had a similar issue with HP.  We bought a computer, I called them with a problem (the computer was 48 hours old) and their customer service person blanked out my hard drive and therefore deleted all of the programs that I had just paid Best Buy to install.  Then they hung up on me!  After DAYS of calling and complaining, I wrote to the president of HP (actually, I emailed their corporate office) and told them that I was now starting my campaign of news media to tell the world how HP treats their customers.  

I got a brand new computer less than a week later.

I don't think that people should gripe just for the sake of griping but when you have been screwed by a multi-billion-dollar company, by all means gripe and gripe loudly!

Solução de Preferência Sem Trabalho

A Solução Brilhantismo demorou quase 30 anos (desde 1982) e tão cedo não se repetirá por inúmeras razões que em tempo oportuno escrevi.

A realidade é esta e não vai mudar. São os brandos costumes tão típicos deste nosso pobre país. Assim se explicam os 48 anos de ditadura apenas findos pela intervenção de meia-dúzia. Somos um bando de medrosos e comodistas. Convenientemente preferirmos acreditar em milagres que são de exclusiva responsabilidade divina. A nossa intervenção limita-se ao sofá sintonizados na Sport TV com o Jornal Desportivo do dia na mão. De modo a garantirmos actualidade às nossa opiniões nas discussões de segunda-feira no trabalho tendo em conta as dissertações dos paineleiros a soldo do regime.

Mas melhor que as minhas palavras são as dos "Deolinda" que descrevem na perfeição a ideia deste "post".

Qual é a admiração?

O mundo Benfiquista está em choque, parece que acordou agora e se deparou com um flagelo recente e inesperado.
Já andamos nisto há 20 anos, vivemos amordaçados e adormecidos durante os primeiros 10 anos e passamos os anos seguintes a dar tiros nos próprios pés, espanta-me por isso tamanha histeria em volta de uma situação que era de todo expectável. Só para falar nos tempos mais recentes, na época de Quique nas primeiras 10 jornadas fomos roubados em cerca de 5 ou 6 jogos, só falámos depois de mais um roubo no jogo em casa frente ao Nacional em que nos anularam o golo da vitória no último minuto, para de seguida nos voltarmos a calar e entregar o campeonato ao fcp. No ano passado andámos entretidos com o nosso brilhantismo enquanto os outros andaram a trabalhar fora de campo nos locais habituais e que tantos sucessos já lhe deram. O nosso silêncio em tempo de vitória foi complacente com o que se passa agora. Em tempos Luís Filipe Vieira disse "a nossa melhor aquisição foi um lugar na estrutura da Liga", isto na data pareceu ridículo mas tinha um fundo de verdade, não se reflectiu num titulo imediato mas criou alicerces para a eclosão do apito dourado (e nesse ano fomos campeões) e com a divulgação do processo (escutas) voltámos a ser campeões.
A triste verdade é que em termos legais não foi possível acabar com a pouca vergonha que se passa no futebol Português, apesar das evidências ninguém conseguiu punir e acabar com uma das organizações mais corruptas que se conhece, e é com isto que temos que viver. Não serão manifestações ou actos de repulsa em escritos de blogs que resolverão os problemas ou ameaças vãs de LFV, Rui Costa ou qualquer outra pessoa após uma derrota que fará parar a vergonha (até porque dada a diferença pontual e confiança ganha de um lado em detrimento do outro, o trabalho já está feito). A única forma de combater esta teia de mentira é no campo. É procurar em conjunto o brilhantismo nos 90 minutos de jogo que permitam a vitória, a nossa vitória, fazendo implodir a organização vigente.
Não é fácil ser brilhante sempre? Claro que não é, mas esta tem que ser a nossa meta o nosso objectivo, todos os profissionais que defendem o nosso clube têm que encarar esta realidade têm que saber conviver com isto, as suas personalidades têm que estar moldadas a todo o tipo de roubos, agressões, ataques de qualquer espécie e continuar a lutar buscando a vitória, sempre.
A nós adeptos cabe-nos também uma missão, difícil, que é nas bancadas apoiar a equipa como se ela estivesse em primeiro, encher os estádios por esse país fora e criar um clima difícil aos nossos adversários e nos dias seguintes exigir, exigir dos nossos profissionais a busca pelo brilhantismo, exigir dos nossos dirigentes a constante luta pela verdade mesmo nos momentos em que ganhemos. Ganhar uma vez não chega, temos que ganhar repetidamente, só assim alcançaremos a normalidade.

9/11 - A different kind of tribute

If you are reading this post then you can remember that horrible day when it seemed like the world was coming to an end.  I was at a bible study meeting.  Michael was a baby.  Nick was at school.  Frank was at work.  I came home and my sister called and told me to turn on the TV.  Even without all of the media coverage that is showing today, I can still remember it all so clearly.

Families lost loved ones.  People lost friends and co-workers.  American's lost their feeling of security.  

One of my oldest and dearest friends - I'm talking friends since birth practically - has a birthday on September 11th.  There is no joy in celebrating anymore for her because it is a day that is shrouded in sadness.  There is no escaping the "looking back" footage that is all over the TV.  I always felt bad about that and I'm sure that there are some people that would be like "Well, in the grand scheme of things she didn't lose anything".  But she did.  

Is it small when compared to the loss of so many lives?  Absolutely.  Is it small compared to the families whose lives will never be the same?  Yes.  But to her, and to those who love her (like me), you almost feel bad sending a cheery "Happy Birthday" message because all that this day represents.  It's almost as if you feel bad celebrating something that is happy when there are these constant and blazing reminders of all that we lost on September 11th.  

 I've sat in front of the TV for most of the morning watching as the History Channel played documentary after documentary.  I cried.  My heart ached.  I cannot even begin to imagine how those directly affected by that day, who lost loved ones, are coping.  To see the images replayed over and over must be overwhelming.  Every time I see an image of someone who jumped from one of the towers, and it is more than a blur, I have to remember that that PERSON is someone's family.  Somewhere there is someone seeing their loved one in the last ten seconds of their life!  That is the final image that they have and it is heartbreaking and devastating!  I don't think I'd want to see that and I certainly wouldn't want my children or my husband to have to see that.

So the TV is off.  My prayers have been said.  I am here to focus on something happy.  I am choosing to focus on something good.  Someone good.  Someone sweet, someone who has been my friend, my sister, my family for as long as I have memory.  Lisa, I wish you a Happy Birthday.  I wish for you a day that we can celebrate you being born for if it wasn't for you, a lot of my most treasured childhood memories would not be.  If not for you on this day I would not have had an escape from some of my most difficult family times.  Your family always welcomed me and treated me as if I belonged.  It may be years since we've seen each other but you are always in my heart.

Happy Birthday, my friend.  I love you!

O "Sistema" voltou

Depois da paródia de justiça existente em Portugal ter reduzido a nada o Apito Dourado, aconteceu o inevitável - o "sistema" voltou, voltou mais forte e quer que se saiba!

Esta semana, olegário é nomeado para arbitrar o nosso jogo; é em seguida "homenageado" pela associação de futebol do porto ( o que neste momento e desde há anos é sinónimo de futebol clube do porto); e ontem faz aquela arbitragem que nos faz recuar mais de 10 anos no tempo, aos fortunatos azevedos e afins que construíram pacientemente a "superioridade" do fcp no futebol nacional.

A mensagem foi transmitida alto e bom som. "Eles" estão de volta.

Era importante para os nossos inimigos que o Benfica tivesse um mau início de campeonato. Por várias razões.

O Benfica acaba de conquistar o seu 32º título nacional de forma inequívoca e praticando um futebol brilhante. Essa conquista levou ao renascer de uma onda de apoio à equipa como há anos não se via. Tentar quebrar essa élan, tentar interromper essa onda, desfazer o laço que une a Equipa aos adeptos era a primeira tarefa do "sistema".

Para além disso, permite aos nossos inimigos continuarem a manter as teses fantasiosas que cobardemente espalharam ao longo da época passada: que o Benfica foi "levado ao colo", que ganhou o campeonato "nos túneis", e aquela pérola descoberta por um dos papagaios de serviço sobre o facto de termos jogado largos minutos contra 10 jogadores (como se a violência dos adversários e respectivas consequências disciplinares fosse, pasme-se, culpa nossa!)

E agora ei-los aí, a esfregar as mãos; "estão a ver? nós bem dizíamos, aquilo o ano passado foi blá blá blá".

O que é importante agora é que este discurso não contamine os Benfiquistas. Nem o campeonato está perdido, nem a época se resume à vitória no Campeonato (há a Taça, a Champions, e até a Taça da Liga, além do objectivo de ir à Champions para o ano que vem, o que implica ser pelo menos 2º classificado).

É portanto importantíssimo que os Benfiquistas não se deixem esmorecer. Um Benfiquista quer sempre ganhar, mas não deixa de ser Benfiquista por perder.

A paixão e o orgulho estão, aqui, em mim, intocadas e intocáveis. Que o saibam todos, os Benfiquistas e oso outros.

Liga Fernando Gomes

Numa fase em que o Benfica ainda está a tentar carburar ofensivamente, era muito importante não sofrer golos. Só que estamos a defender mal e são duas bolas por jogo na nossa baliza. Também é verdade que, para virar um jogo, não é aconselhável colocar em campo o César Peixoto. Porém, tudo isto é relativizado face à arbitragem (?) daquele vigarista que, apesar de ser de Leiria, foi homenageado recentemente pela Associação de Futebol do Porto (!). Não vale a pena falar da imensidão de erros ("penalties", foras-de-jogo, cartões amarelos). Todos vimos. Mas isto não espanta. Será que ainda não perceberam que esta é a Liga Fernando Gomes? Correram com o homem que, no Conselho de Disciplina, tomava decisões sem temê-los e com o anterior presidente da Liga, por não ser um cordeirinho nas suas mãos. Colocaram lá dois ferrenhos portistas. E quem apoiou os novos órgãos sociais? O nosso presidente. Deve-nos, pois, uma explicação bem fundamentada, já que não no-la deu antes das eleições. Será que pensava que a qualidade da equipa - o tal rolo compressor - era suficiente para os Benquerença, Proença, Cosme e outros vermes? Enganou-se...

Roda de Camião

Há uns anos atrás em pleno campeonato do mundo a equipa do Brasil tinha um patinho feio que ninguém parecia entender porque é que jogava, se a memória não me atraiçoa tratava-se de Zé Roberto. Os jornalistas Brasileiros muito atentos ao assunto resolveram inquirir o povo na escolha para titular entre Zé Roberto e uma roda de camião. As respostas foram maioritariamente a favor da roda com múltiplos argumentos bastantes engraçados. Ao ver o jogo que culminou na 3ª derrota em 4 jogos do nosso clube, dei por mim a lembrar-me desta estória e a pensar se preferia ver Aimar a jogar ou uma roda de camião. Confesso que a duvida se instalou e se mantém e não é uma certeza porque a minha memória ainda consegue alcançar pequenas maravilhas protagonizadas pelo nosso número 10, pena é que esses momentos andem longe, muito longe tornando-se demasiado penoso a sua manutenção em campo sendo que Jorge Jesus parece não ver, aliás o nosso treinador parece não ver nada, não sei se serão as penas do Pavão que vestiu durante demasiado tempo que lhe toldão a visão ou se será algo mais profundo que isto. As alterações por si protagonizadas foram simplesmente horríveis, pior era praticamente impossível, e resultam de uma péssima leitura de jogo contribuindo significativamente para a derrota de hoje e para o afastamento definitivo à 4ª jornada da luta pelo titulo.
O que todos vemos, salta à vista por ser demasiado evidente, até o JJ viu o que atendendo aos problemas elencados anteriormente é de evidenciar, foi mais uma excelente arbitragem de Olegário, eu não levei cartão amarelo o que dada a sua actuação é de estranhar.
